I am a lesbian myself and I think that government in the UK has gone too far in trying to push religious institutions to accept marriage equality. As far as I am concerned, marriage equality is for civil marriage. Churches have the right to refuse to wed same sex couples based on their religious belief.
Crystal, though I may disagree with that lifestyle and behavior, I
appreciate and thank you for being a voice of reason here. There's no
reason why the homosexual lifestyle or behavior should have a political
activist movement behind it. This is a private (bedroom) matter, and
that is all people on the right ever wanted it to be. It isn't
Conservatives or Christians that have made this a public matter, it has
been homosexual activists.
Homosexual ACTIVISM by it's very
definition and nature is what is taking what should be a private matter
and making it an in everybody's faces public matter.
The reason for the political activism is that gays and lesbians were ostracized by the police. Gay bars were raided for no reason other than to harass the patrons. In June, 1969, the patrons of the Stonewall bar had had enough. They fought back and this began the gay rights movement.

From what I have seen, a core belief of Western peoples is the freedom of speech. Western countries allow criticism of government, of government leaders, and others due to this belief. The comment made by Adrian Smith simply states his opinion, and does not even ridicule or name-call the homosexual group. I simply do not understand why the Westerners are treating him in such a way.

Thanks for an important heads-up, Michael Brown. This gay bullying mess is NO small issue. Christians need to understand that if Obama is re-elected, he is going to do exactly what he has promised to do -- destroy the federal Defense of Marriage Act, and legalize gay marriage via the courts. Freedoms of speech and religion WILL get truncated; gay bullies WILL target Christians.

For every "gay bullies" fringe story MB presents, there are everyday stories of people being severely discriminated against by society, family and churches for being LGBT. How many religious fundamentalists have killed themselves due to "bullying" by a gay person or organization? Yet the rate of suicide among gay teens is 5 times--FIVE TIMES!--higher than than straight teens. And the cause is the hatred shown by the church toward them. It's fascinating that Jesus says NOTHING--zero--about gay people, but the church spends so much of their time bullying them and hating them. Church leaders should instead teach acceptance and love, address poverty, single-parent families, care for elderly, and jobless. They should use their influence positively and help people instead of hurting gay people. Bullying is a serious problem and churches should not encourage it, but they are doing so in their fight to overturn marriage equality.
The reason suicide is higher is because of sin. Romans ch. 1 addresses the gay issue quite well. Churches should not be forced to recognize something that the Bible clearly teaches against. If a person wants to be gay, then that is their choice and in a free society what two consenting adults do in private is their own business. To blame someone else though for the consequences, well thats just petty.

Don't just make stuff up Jeanette. Use FACTS. No, there is ZERO evidence that any of those people are committing suicide at a rate more than 5 times...or 4 times...etc than those not involved in those acts. It is gender specific and linked to mental disorders, not "what you do".

Homosexuality is not a "spirit." NOWHERE is that in the bible. In fact, the translation of the word as we know it isn't even in Hebrew or Greek. But we can agree on this--it's ain't a "spirit."

Funny, it was a peer reviewed study in a respected journal and has been sourced 17 times (meaning it was vetted each time.) Once again, you are presented with facts but plug you ears. If you have facts to support your opinions, please supply them. But don't discredit facts because you don't agree with them.

Of course it's not "chosen." Do you choose to be heterosexual? Of course not. Could you choose to engage in a gay relationship if you are straight? Of course not.
I have seen the same thing. I was a psych nurse for the "criminally insane" One of the units I worked on was for MDSO (mentally disordered sex offenders) most of these men were extremely nice. In fact it was one of the easiest units to work on. And yet these men committed terrible crimes against children. Proof that people can be severely disordered and nice as well.
